From Literepetition

Plot is, simply, story. It's the framework inside which Literepetition's characters live, work, play, breathe, grow, discover, interact. There are multiple levels of story arcs in which players can participate, from simple everyday interactions to supernatural occurrences; academic pursuits to political maneuvering; past-life discovery to slightly sinister present-day mystery. Below are some basic guidelines to determine what sort of plot is available to whom.

[edit] Player Run Plot

Literepetition is, by and large, a game based on mutual storytelling. What this means is that rather than moderators handing out stories and information for them piecemeal, the players themselves run the bulk of the plots that take place in the game. Most information necessary for this is available here on the LitRep wiki, and staff are available to clarify or assist where necessary.

[edit] What you can do

Just about anything.

  1. Any interpersonal or day-to-day interaction between PCs
  2. Any plot involving interaction with personal NPCs
  3. Any plot that does not affect the game world as a whole
    • If an intended PrP impacts the game beyond your character or the characters of those who have elected to participate in the plot, you will require staff approval before running it.
    • If an intended PrP results in any character gaining more information listed under the Meta section, please notify staff prior to the plot run. Staff reserves the right to veto or amend the suggested plot arc if necessary to preserve continuity or game structure.

[edit] What you can't do

  1. Any plot that significantly amends or alters the overall setting or metaplot
  2. Any plot that requires the use of staff-controlled NPCs
    • Unless the plot has been pre-approved by staff and staff is available to play the NPC

Notes:

  • Consequences resulting from player-run-plot not already implemented by players may be introduced by staff with or without player consultation.
  • Staff reserve the right to amend or retcon any developments resulting from PrP if deemed necessary to preserve continuity, game integrity, or overall story arc.

[edit] Staff Run Plot

Because the majority of LitRep's stories will in essence be self-guided, staff fill a position more to facilitate, rather than guide or control plots. Players not wishing to direct a plot themselves are more than welcome to ask a staffer to run the scene for them; similarly, staffers are available to play NPCs and answer questions about stories already in progress or completed. Players are encouraged to act on their own initiative within the guidelines offered above, and utilize staffers as support and backup, rather than depend upon them for moving stories forward.
