Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde, generally called Wilde or (by lovers, close friends, and family) Ozzy, is a freshman at Meridian College. He is all but universally known as that flamboyant snarkotron Irish theatre kid. For various and sundry details on the first Wilde, view the talk page.

[edit] Biography
Wilde, Ozzy to those closest, was born in Dublin as somewhat the middle child of Dr. William Wilde (a wealthy and prominent Irish eye surgeon) and Jane Wilde (a lesser known poet with possible IRA ties). His older brother, Willie, is a junior at Trinity College, but his younger sister Isolde (or Izzy), died suddenly of meningitis when the boys were young, so for all practical purposes Wilde has mostly functioned as the youngest sibling. He has several older half-siblings, the product of Dr. Wilde sowing his wild(e) oats, but he doesn't really know any of them. Up until the death of Izzy, Wilde was homeschooled under a rotation of nannies, whom he remembers fondly, but once he lost his younger playmate his parents decided that he and Willie needed to make friends with more peers.
[edit] Previous Education
Thus he went to the prestigious all-boys Portora Royal School after just another year or two, which did not prove at all a barrier to his success (relatively) with the female population; his rapidly developing expensive tastes, tongue in cheek romantic gestures, quirky accessories for his school uniform, and sparkling conversation won him a dual reputation as ladies' man and borderline class clown.
But by the time he turned fifteen, our gallant hero started to observe that he didn't have any real interest in dating girls, and that his eye was really for his fellow male classmates. During his last two years of high school, thus, he never made any sweeping proclamations about his orientation but still grew very openly involved with another, very "out" student, Robbie Ross, and mostly let that speak for itself. It resulted— possibly— in persecution by the more bigoted members of his school, but if so, Wilde doesn't bother to speak about it. (See: Personality.) His grades were reasonably good, and he wanted to get out of Ireland and see a bit more of the world, so rather than follow Willie to Trinity, he accepted a scholarship to Meridian instead.
Life has of course not been boys, boys, boys, either. Wilde's truest passion of all is writing, not specific to format. It began with the colorful commentary that he would throw into literature and history papers for grade school, and soon he found an enthusiasm for writing virtually anything. He may or may not be privately writing a short novel, though he's publicly known for satirical op-eds in the Portora student newspaper (a tradition he may easily continue for Meridian), and no surprise, he loves playwriting. All aspects of theatre appeal to him, in fact, so he has yet to decide on a specific theatrical focus; he will write, direct, act, produce, or handle lighting as desired, so long as he can stay away from really heavy physical work, which he finds odious.
[edit] At Meridian Now
Wilde's course schedule is as follows for the fall of 2009.

[edit] Trivia
- Bands & Musicians: ABBA, The B-52s, Blondie, David Bowie, Boy George, The Darkness, Elton John, Erasure, Europe, Eurythmics, Lady GaGa, Madonna, MIKA, Kylie Minogue, OMD, Iggy Pop, Prince, Prokofiev, Rihanna, Roxy Music, Scissor Sisters, Gwen Stefani, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Justin Timberlake, tons of Eurovision hits, lots of operas, the soundtracks to Cats, The Full Monty, Hairspray, La Cage aux Folles, A Man of No Importance, and anything connected in any way to Bob Fosse.
- Films: Moulin Rouge!, The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
- Preferred Writing Method: Typing. He's a fiend at it.
- Usually Found Wearing: It hovers between several levels of flamboyance— tight-fitting jeans and tees in the hipster vein, designer riffs on the three-piece suit (one might even see paisley ties and handkerchiefs), or just outright fabulous, brightly colored, frilly outfits that manage to stretch the limits of good taste without actually surpassing them. One may be able to tell that he follows fashion a little obsessively. Around his dorm or when generally dressing down, he often wears a silk dressing gown festooned with peacock feather designs. If questioned on his obsession with his own appearance, the response is usually along the lines of, "Well, even the plainest painting needs an extravagant frame."
- Booze: Fine brandy, especially cognac. He knows a thing or two about mixed drinks and especially favors rum-based cocktails.
- Food: Is it expensive? He eats it. Is it expensive and exotic? He definitely eats it.
- Votes: He'll tell everyone that he votes Fine Gael, a habit gotten into while attending school in Northern Ireland. But he has no formal party affiliation. Very privately, he'll vote anywhere between Labour, Green, and even occasionally Sinn Féin.
- Worships: Though he may very occasionally be seen around Catholic Masses, he's never actually been baptized and seems mostly an agnostic.
- Really, Really Minor Details: Whenever possible, he keeps his room decorated with live flowers, especially large ones like lilies and sunflowers, and he spends embarrassing amounts of money on genuinely expensive artwork. He does smoke, though mostly in a social setting, and his drinking habits are rather mild. Drug use he can be persuaded into though he doesn't actively seek it out.
[edit] Reputation & Quirks
Standing at 6' even, with an average build and dark hair, Wilde has features that are rather more soulful than beautiful, with big baby blues, a long but soft face, and a smile that charms but still looks a bit too serious. Technically? He really isn't that attractive at all. This all appears in strong contrast to his manner of dress, of course, and also to his personality. If anyone is ever interested in him, it's undoubtedly due to his demeanor and style.
Wilde has generally come to make a point of the various trappings of gay identity that he embodies— effete mannerisms, fashion (over-)consciousness, an affinity for the arts and most especially for theatre— but he makes very little fuss about his actual sex life. Call him a fairy? He'll accept it with a grin. Call him a cocksucking fag, even in jest? He'll find it rather crude. It's not quite that he finds who sleeps with to be nobody's business, but a) he generally prefers long courtships to quick shags, and b) he takes much greater delight in lampooning and skewering aspects of wealthy, heterosexual society, as opposed to singing his own praises... which may be ironic, considering how flippantly he sings them on other occasions. Yes, he's boastful, though one may often wonder how much pride he really has; he might just act in an outrageously self-aggrandizing manner to thumb his nose at the humility demanded by some social mores. He openly belittles those for whom he cares nothing, but he likes many people, too, and will tease them in a much more friendly (even flirtatious) manner. His fickle nature is notorious, of course, as he grows easily bored, but if one does happen to belong to the few people who can always stimulate him intellectually, Wilde is quite loyal. He partakes in small talk and gossip, with an apparent dual goal of making such matters ultra-serious and pointing out (humorously) where others are being quite silly; but he prefers lending his irreverence to serious subjects. Technically, he keeps a lot PC, but it might depend how you define that.
Even if not the overtly bookish sort, Wilde is distinctly a geek when it comes to ancient Greek history and mythology (drama, too, though really to a lesser degree). He also isn't a bad student, even though he'll also flagrantly admit that it's his scholarship that carries him along when his studies go less than ideally. When people manage to get below his elaborate surface, they may even find that he's a deep individual, though damned if they'll ever deduce why he hides it; there's no great psychological trauma to unearth and he really just doesn't carry much emotional baggage. He very much sticks to his guns whenever there's a conflict that remains verbal and not physical. He's generous, well-nigh philanthropic. On the flip side, as entertaining and personable as Wilde can be, it's his downfall in many ways. Even if he makes a reasonable confidant, he can't be depended upon for serious (or good) advice unless you've caught him in one of his very rare sincere moods. His professed amoral qualities may irritate the straitlaced, and his flamboyance may bother members of the GLBT community who'd prefer to avoid cookie cutter Queer Eye associations. He's a physical weakling, to be sure, and a coward in such affairs. And as readily as he'll admit his own shortcomings in more low-key arguments, he doesn't readily apologize. Finally, he's almost pathologically frightened, albeit internally, by the notion of growing old. Not in terms of becoming a stodgy grown-up in the Peter Pan sense, but he finds the elderly rather hideous and thanks his lucky stars on a regular basis for still being physically young. He won't get involved with someone more than a couple years older than him, and as time passes, he's probably going to find himself drawn to younger guys, insofar as it's consensual and they're not jailbait.
Though Irish by birth, Wilde doesn't have a strong brogue and it would take a talented linguist to glean that he's from Dublin in particular; likewise, he identifies as an Irishman but eschews most nationalistic sentiment, since he likes the lore of his people but is more than a little sarcastic about Irish politics, just as he is with the politics of... well, anywhere. He doesn't speak Irish Gaelic at all, but is borderline fluent in French and German after being raised under two foreign nannies. He's considerably talented with ancient Greek as well, though it's more strictly in terms of reading knowledge, and to be honest, he doesn't flaunt his linguistic ability very much because he doesn't actually consider it his strong point. Where his ego remains well-nigh unflappable is with English; he doesn't use his wit for winning self-esteem points, per se, but rather his self-esteem seems so astronomically high that he tends to make light of very serious subjects regarding both himself and others. He deliberately watches a lot of reality TV, particularly the shows that supposedly deal with culture, Project Runway being his all-time favorite. He likes to watch movies, but he likes very few movies themselves, and when pressed for criticism he's more likely to offer snarky commentary on the stars' personalities and performances than on anything else.
[edit] Rumors
Rumor has it...
- ... that he doesn't actually do anal. Strictly a hand- and blowjob kind of guy.

[edit] Relationships
[edit] Beautiful Flowers
- Robbie Ross - Theoretically his boyfriend back across the pond. Very theoretically.
[edit] They've Kept His Attention
- Dory Wordsworth - There is a quick-witted former New York model living in his midst. How DELIGHTFUL. She has rapidly endeared herself to Wilde, insofar as anyone can.
- Liam Wordsworth, Ernest - The model has a brother. This may technically be even more delightful, though Wilde doesn't know how Liam swings.
- P. J. Woodhouse, Bertie - Should be English, and that's actually good.
[edit] Possibly Not Boring
- Nancy Boyd - A firecracker, to be sure. Has a bit of a mouth on her, which borders on too crude for Wilde's taste, but he has already enjoyed conversation with her anyway and looks forward to more. Part One of the unit known as Boyle.
- Arthur Doyle - Screams straight, and is scruffy, but likes animals and is possibly smart. Wilde has an eye on this one just to see if he one day truly entertains or truly disappoints. Part Two of the unit known as Boyle.
- Jon-Baptiste Mullen - Known online. Apparently a fellow drama student and gifted with gab. Pretty. Very pretty.
- Dot Rothschild - Keeps commenting on his journal and seems too amusing for words. May get on with famously. Clearly the name Dorothy is a good luck charm around here.
- Evelyn Waugh - Bad-tempered and seems both delightfully queer and delightfully bothered by how queer Wilde himself is. Too much of a scoundrel to really be Wilde's type, so instead the Irish lad is rapidly developing a perverse pleasure from annoying Evelyn to pieces. Arguably, he might be stung by some of Evelyn's own cat-calls, but if so, he really isn't showing it.
[edit] Extremely Boring
[edit] Family Members
- William Wilde - Father. An important presence as the parent who sent Wilde to school over the northern border, giving him a taste and understanding of the Republican/Ulster divide, but other than that, the connection isn't strong. Nor is it too tense.
- Jane Wilde - Mother. A more important presence. Gave Wilde his love and talent for writing, and also gave him unwavering support when he came out. Her (possibly) radical political days are behind her; she just focuses on poetry. But she's still managed to instill in her children a private, quiet pride in their cultural identity. Wilde expresses it the least, of course.
- Willie Wilde - That is, William Wilde, Jr. Somewhat close to his brother, the pair are both inclined toward horseplay with each other.
- Isolde Wilde - Izzy, younger sister, deceased. Wilde has virtually no memories of her, so there's not much baggage here.
