Meridian College is a private university. Originally an all-boys' seminary, it abandoned its ecclesiastical aims just before the turn of the twentieth century, and became co-ed just after the conclusion of the First World War. It now offers a well-rounded selection of majors, although it is most well known for its political science department. Its faculty are a roughly even mix of conservative and liberal personalities, and the two opposing campus newspapers, written, edited and maintained by students, follow that trend of right wing hardass neo-con and lefty pinko commie propaganda. All in all, an entertaining read, no matter which of the two one picks up at one of several local coffee shops.
